This is a small, family-run business that contributes to other small businesses in the Pawhuska community. We are not a chain hotel or a luxury hotel thus offer more affordable rates and simple amenities as is common in other rural locations around the USA near tourist attractions.

Staff: Staff are on-call for services 24 hours a day and live on-site. Our phone reaches us directly from 9 am to 7 pm CST. 7 days a week, W-Saturdays staff will be present in the office at 707 Kihekah Ave from 1 pm CST to 5 pm CST.
Booking.com and Expedia.com guests need to contact these sites and use their accounts to cancel or request refunds.
Please contact us via phone if you are on-site or in-transit to the hotel instead of using their sites if you want fast service.
Regular customers (www.historicwhiting.com) please call us AND email us at firstname.lastname@example.org the details of your issues and we will solve them according to the listed policies on refunds and cancellations.
Check-In: Normal check-in is between 3:00 and 7:00 pm CST if this needs to be different please contact us to make other arrangements. We will have your keys ready by 3 pm every day and you will be able to get into your room whether we are here or not.
Your key will be in the antique school desk located in the hallway in the respective building you are staying in.
Check-out: 11:00 am CST is our regular checkout time.
Location: Our rooms are located on the second story of our building at the 700 block of Kihekah which is two blocks north of the PW Mercantile. Rooms 1 thru 6 are on the south end and Rooms 15 thru 20 are on the north end. Our stairs for the north & south Ends are outlined in red (see diagram).
Parking: To access the efficiency suites without stairs you need to access our back-upper parking lot. The gravel driveway is located on the north side of the building and before the laundry mat. Monitored hotel parking is located in the back of the building. Public parking is available in front and parking for larger vehicles is available across the street in the parking lot next to the pharmacy on request.
Guests must cancel 7 days or more in advance of your reservation via the website used for booking the reservation. Guests are be responsible for payment in FULL for cancellations AFTER the 7 day cut off.
A cancellation fee of $25.00 for cancellations BEFORE 7 day cut off. Max occupancy for suites with 1 queen is (3), 1 king (3), 2 full (5) people, a $10 charge will be added when occupancy goes over per additional person, (2) included with each suite type.
Covid-19 and Event Cancellations: Events outside the hotel that are cancelled due to Covid-19 concerns do not cause guests to be immediately eligible for full refunds. Please watch your event announcements carefully as many usual local events have been cancelled and call ahead to the PW mercantile if you plan to attend tours to confirm events are going as listed.
Pets must be kept on leashes whenever they are outside the hotel suites. Due this being a rural community many people let dogs run free and we want you and your pet to be safe from surprise encounters as you travel.
We are pet friendly with a Pet Fee of $50. FAILURE to report pet will result in $100 FINE. LOST KEYS or Failure to Return is $20 to replace keys.
SMOKING: Smoking is allowed on the public balcony with respect to others outdoors and dispose of them in the containers we offer. Please NO SMOKING in Suites or Hallways - $100 FINE.
Cleaning: Efficiency Suites are NOT cleaned every day for stays longer than (2) Days. We will "Refresh" the room every (2) Days for stays longer than (2) Days. Thank You. We are pet friendly with a Pet Fee of $50.
LOST KEYS or Failure to Return is $20 to replace keys.
Accessibility: The HWHS are in a historic building which was built in times where space expectations were more economical than the present. This means narrow hallways, bridges, small steps, and narrow/small private bathrooms in our accommodations despite the spaciousness of an efficiency suite. All suites are located on the upper level public balcony. They can be accessed by two stair cases at front of building at ground level or the parking lot in back which is on the upper level with the bridge to the public terrace. The parking lot access has two small steps and then a narrow bridge over the back alley to access the upper level rooms. There are also several spots with raised bumps for drainage on the way to suites 1-6. Inside each Suite has a step up into the bathroom and the space between the toilet, bath, and sink is typical for a 1920s design and very narrow.
